I am passionate about Autonomous Cars (AC) – the future of motor transport. AC will revolutionize the transportation of people and goods. AC will touch our lives in so many ways because of our dependence on cars. One of the most important aspects of AC is saving lives and reducing injuries. The secondary yet significant benefits include – sustainability, fuel efficiency, occupant productivity, comfort, auto insurance savings and disadvantaged mobility.
The drive towards automation has already begun in steps as Advance Driver Assist Systems (ADAS), the building blocks of automation. ADAS consist of such functions as lane departure control, blind spot warning, emergency braking assist, adaptive cruise control, self-park, collision avoidance, and turn-by-turn navigation.
The ADAS are being offered as Drive Assist Packages in mid-size to luxury cars, and it is expected to be available in economy class in few years. It is estimated that by 2020 semiautomatic cars will be on the roads, and by 2025 fully autonomous mass produced cars will be on the market.
